Release Highlights

  • Fixed a bug that caused display corruption on LG Ultragear monitors when certain modes were used.

  • Fixed a bug on DGX Spark that caused black screens or system hangs when certain combinations of displays were connected.

  • Fixed a bug that caused corruption in X-Plane on workstation GPUs.

  • Fixed a regression introduced in 580.65.06 that caused some mode timings (e.g., 1920x1080@75) to no longer be available.

  • Reverted a change that led to a user regression in 580.105.08 that invalidated display modes on a number of monitors.

  • Fixed a bug that caused the Dots Per Inch (DPI) to be incorrectly reported for some monitors such as the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9.

  • Added a new environment variable, CUDA_DISABLE_PERF_BOOST, to allow for disabling the default behavior of boosting the GPU to a higher power state when running CUDA applications. Setting this environment variable to '1' will disable the boost.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the vfio-pci module to soft lockup after powering off a VM with passed-through NVIDIA GPUs.

  • Fixed a recent regression which prevented HDMI FRL from working after hot unplugging and replugging a display.

  • Fixed a bug that caused Rage2 to crash when loading the game menu: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/rage-2-crashes-when-entering-the-map-seems-nvidia-specific-problem/169063

  • Fixed a bug that caused Metro Exodus EE to crash: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/580-release-feedback-discussion/341205/53

  • Fixed a bug that allowed VRR to be enabled on some modes where it isn't actually possible, leading to a black screen.

  • Fixed a bug that could cause some HDMI displays to remain blank after unplugging and re-plugging the display.

  • Fixed an issue that would prevent large resolution or high refresh rate modes like 7680x2160p@240hz from being available when using HDMI FRL or DisplayPort.

  • Fixed several problems that prevented Vulkan applications from working on Venus VirtIO virtual GPU, on Volta and newer.

  • Fixed the following EGL platform bugs that prevented multisample configurations from working:

  • Fixed a bug that could cause system freezes on PREEMPT_RT kernels.

Additional Information

  • Note that many Linux distributions provide their own packages of the NVIDIA Linux Graphics Driver in the distribution's native package management format. These may integrate better with your distribution's framework; you may prefer using a distribution-provided package instead of NVIDIA's official package.

  • SuSE users should read the SuSE NVIDIA Installer HOWTO before downloading: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_drivers

  • See the README for more detailed instructions: http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/aarch64/580.119.02/README/index.html

  • For further information please visit the NVIDIA Linux forum: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/c/gpu-unix-graphics/linux/148

Installation

1

Download

Download the driver file: https://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/aarch64/580.119.02/NVIDIA-Linux-aarch64-580.119.02.run

2

Install

Change to the directory containing the downloaded driver package and run, as root:

One of the last installation steps will offer to update your X configuration file. You can:

  • Accept the offer to automatically update X configuration, or

  • Edit your X configuration file manually so that the NVIDIA X driver will be used, or

  • Run nvidia-xconfig to update the configuration.

Notes

  • The list of supported GPU products indicates which GPUs are supported by this driver version. Some hardware designs incorporating supported GPUs may not be compatible with the NVIDIA Linux driver โ€” in particular, notebook and all-in-one desktop designs with switchable (hybrid) or Optimus graphics will not work if there is no hardware means to disable the integrated graphics. Consult your system manufacturer for compatibility details.
